Gynecology is vastest of medical specialties. It focuses exclusively on women, and therefore, more than half of the population is likely to consult a gynecologist at some point in their lives. Physicians who have dedicated their lives and careers to provide healthcare guarantee their support from the very moment of birth. We take care of the mother and the newborn, with resuscitation sometimes being necessary. Young girls are sometimes hampered by anomalies related to hormones or more rarely by malformations. This is followed by the considerable unrest caused by puberty in the body of a young girl who has the feeling of waking up after a long dream. They will see a gynecologist because they will be surprised by the onset of menstruation, changes in their bodies and surprises triggered by their first loves. Many emotions drive this period of life that leads to the so-called adulthood. At this stage of a woman’s life the watchword is Motherhood, either reaching it or avoiding it, with all the temporary or permanent disorders this may bring along. Although this stage lasts longer than it used to, an equally surprising Fall season makes its way in–some call it Menopause–but it is nothing but the mirror image of Puberty. In this time of life, the gynecologist knows how to reach out a helping hand to offer daily support with multiple solutions where doom is excluded. Finally, life leaves traces on our faces, and elsewhere in our bodies. We support women also at this stage of life to make their well-being lasts as long as possible, the indespensable approach of Prevention being an underlying principle throughout our entire careers as Physicians.
Piercing
I really want to have a piercing, but I’m afraid of the risk of infection and so I want it to be done by a surgeon in an operating room.
We perform piercing of genitals and breasts under strict sterile conditions. It is possible to get a pre-sterilized piercing in an operating room. Thanks to local anesthesia with a numbing cream you will feel no pain. The risk of infection is minimized as for any operation.
G-Spot infiltration with hyaluronic acid
I feel that my vaginal pleasure is weaker and I would like it to be as it was before. I can no longer find my G-Spot yet I could perfectly feel it before.
Hyaluronic acid injection is performed under application of anesthetic cream for a few months of marked increased sensations. The injection is not painful and you can immediately return to normal life.
Clitoris enlargement
I feel that my clitoris is very small and it is enclosed in the skin. I do not feel much pleasure.
Must then retract the clitoris under local anesthesia. There will be a few stitches with son who go alone.
Plastical surgery of the vaginal fourchette (base of inner lips) or narrowing of the vagina
I’m too wide at the entrance of the vagina. This bothers me a lot in my personal life.
This can be solved by performing a simple correction of the lower part of the entrance of the vagina under local anesthesia. The few stitches applied will eventually fall all alone. In about 3 weeks you will rediscover the sensations you had before pregnancy.
Anal dilatation
I feel strong pain even when trying to introduce a finger and sometimes my skin tears a bit.
Some anal dilatation sessions once or twice a week under local anesthesia will quickly improve your condition.
Anal Surgery or treatment of anal skin tags
I had hemorrhoids during my pregnancy and now I have small skin around the anus that makes me very uncomfortable.
This is not like an operation for hemorrhoids, it is therefore painless. This intervention is done under local anesthesia in ambulatory care. The small tags are removed and in a few days everything is back to normal.
Hymenoplasty (reconstruction of virginity)
I’m no longer a virgin due to a sports accident. It really troubles me because my husband might think I have already had sexual intercourse.
Rebuilding of virginity, under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis, is perfectly possible. Your hymen can be reconstructed, so no doubt on your virginity will remain. The scars will be completely healed within ten days after the intervention. The stitches disappear all alone.
Nymphoplasty (labia minora reduction)
I think one or two of my labia are too big and hang when I’m standing. This is also very disturbing during sexual intercourse as they go into the vagina.
The size of the vulva can be reduced and adjusted symmetrically to eliminate this problem. This is done under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The stitches disappear after ten days.
Difficulty in sexual life
Dilatation of the vagina, vaginoplasty
My vagina is so narrow I cannot practice penetration.
The operation consists on incising the hymen, that is, your virginity, which may be impossible to break through. This intervention is performed under local anesthesia.
Repair excision or infibulation ritual
I underwent a ritual excision when I was a little girl and I cannot feel pleasure.
It is always possible to improve the existing situation, but it greatly depends on the magnitude of the initial mutilation and its healing with or without complications.
Local anesthesia is often sufficient, the stitches disappear after ten days.
Treatment of urinary incontinence
by suburethral MiniArc® Precise Sling
I discharge a few drops of urine when I make an effort, cough, sneeze, laugh, dance or exercise. Rehabilitation sessions have improved my condition, but the result is insufficient. I would like to no longer have this problem, I’m often uncomfortble because I think I smell bad.
The technique of choice with a guaranteed successful result is the placement of a sling similar to a bra strap under the urethra, the canal carrying urine. This is a painless intervention performed under local anesthesia on outpatient surgery. You can resume normal life the next day! There is no urinary catheterization and the stitches disappear alone within 10 days.
Treatment of anal incontinence
I find it increasingly difficult to retain gas and sometimes, if I’m not careful, I soil my underwear. This started after my last-and very difficult-delivery. I did rehabilitation but it did not help much.
The muscles around the entrance of the vagina need to be narrowed, identifying the specific muscles that were damaged during childbirth, so they can be reconducted around the anus in order to allow them to fulfil their contraction function again.
This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in outpatient surgery with a recovery time of about 8 days. You will need to resume perineal rehabilitation to improve the result and maintain it in the long-term.
Treatment of genital prolapse with or without prostheses
I have a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen especially in the evening when I’m tired and I feel that everything is coming out when I feel my vagina. I have had one or more difficult deliveries.
This surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia. It consists of placing a mesh in front and behind the walls of the vagina, under the skin, so the tissues have a solid structure to hold on to. The final healing is achieved within 3 months. The internal organs will slowly and gradually climb back to their original position. The removal of the uterus at the same time is excluded, as hysterectomy often leads to further relapse, that is, the organs prolapsing again.
This intervention must be done as late as possible, but shall not be postponed because you are too young if you are, for example, 40 years old. This procedure takes about an hour, it is performed with absorbable surgical threads, so there is nothing to remove. You will need to rest for only a week. This operation is not painful if the appropriate treatment is followed.
Treatment of terminal constipation
I often complain of having constipation as I have the feeling I need to make a vowel movement, but then nothing comes out, even when pushing hard. I gave birth to a big baby or had forceps or a suction cup used during the delivery and I was badly torn.
You most certainly have an hernia between the rectum and the vagina which is called rectocele. Vowel movements are seriously disturbed by this condition because the feces accumulate inside the hernia instead of going out through the anus. The operation consists in closing the hernia with a plate or thread mesh under local anesthesia in ambulatory surgery. It will take eight days to recover. The pain is very easy to control with an adapted treatment.
Female sterilization
Esssure method using natural canals under local anesthesia
I no longer wish to have children and I am looking for a minimally invasive endoscopic method under local anesthesia and in ambulatory care, to have my fallopian tubes definitively blocked. I need to be able to resume normal life the day after and I do not want to undergo any pain.
This method has been applied for ten years now. It is perfectly reliable when performed by expert hands. It is done by hysteroscopy, that is, looking into the uterus with a video camera to identify the departure openings of the fallopian tubes. A small allergy-free titanium spring or « stent » is then slid inside the openings and released. Within 3 months the fallopian tubes are blocked. You will just need to have an ultrasonic inspection to verify the effectiveness of the intervention. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, there is very little pain and it allows you to resume your everyday life the next day.
